Old Lowrance datacards

Does anyone know where I can get a datacard with maps for an old B/W Lowrance GPS/fishfinder unit like the one in the pic below?
I think this is the model I've just got, but not sure and can't check as it's not here. However, it's definitely the same card slot.

In fact, any info would be appreciated. The unit currently doesn't even have a base world map and I know nothing about it apart from how to switch it on.

I used to have one of those. I've got the card reader for it somewhere, it's a beast of a thing that plugs into a parallel port which I doubt you'll have now. I can dig it out if you're interested. They used navionics mmc cards, I'm sure that Navionics will still supply them but I don't know at what cost. Give Lance a ring at the Navionics office in Plymouth (I think), he's always been helpful.

PS I might have a suncover for it in the shed as well

Yes please Dave. It'd be very much appreciated! I haven't got a parallel port, but I can get an adapter from Amazon for a couple of quid.

Any idea what the MMC card looks like? A google image search doesn't tell me much...

They look like sd cards & fit the same slot. I think they're interchangeable . I might have one in the back of a drawer, I'll have a look

Ah, definitely not the same card then. This slot is huge.

Are you sure? The drawer on the front slides out & there's a carrier inside that takes 2 mmc/sd cards, it is big but I'm 99% that it's the same one I had. I think it's a lcm series

You could be right, but there's no carrier inside this one and no evidence it's ever had one. The drawer on the front isn't a drawer, it's a removable cover.

Possibly, though the pic on page 29 of the manual doesn't look like what I've got with the card slots that come out-unless it's broken.

Trouble is, the only image I have of the unit I have is too blurred to see.

Looks like you're snookered, Nos, unless you "google" a knackered unit from somewhere...

Possibly...I might yet be wrong though and it could still have the drawer in there but it's not attached to the cover anymore.

Fingers crossed...

Is it just a GPS or does it have sonar as well. The sonar units have an extra socket on the back for the transducer cable.
AFAIK Lowrance have only used mmc/sd cards in recent years. I don't think they have used cf or bespoke cartridges.

It's got sonar too, and an external antenna. The unit is fully working, just no mapping as far as I can see.

Doesn't mean it doesn't have a US basemap in there though I guess.

In that case it's not a globalmap as they were just chartplotters. It's more likely an lcx series which were combo units. What size screen is it?

This is the unit-the only image I have of the unit in question. As for size, don't know. I was too busy checking the rest of the boat out to take a lot of notice apart from it being there and working.

I did wonder if it was an LCX-15 as the proportions seem about right to the pic at the start of the thread. The LCX-15 manual only refers to MMC cards though. It'd be nice if it'd take SD cards too.

I think that the units will take sd as well as mmc, I have found a 32mb mmc card that's going spare. I can't find the card reader & I'll have a look for the suncover tomorrow
