Over voltage

Hi all,

On a run today noticed 17+ volts on the gauge [emoji54].

Yamaha F100a (carb) model.

Am I right to assume regulator/rectifier has gone?

Never replaced one before, easy job?

Many thanks

Jaba

Sounds very much like a regulator problem. Won’t have done your battery much good either.

if its a yam gauge then yeh the regulator prob is gone... easy job ...just take your time. if your battery is less than 5 years it will prob survive! Nik

Ok
I thought i would conclude the thread with the end result which was indeed the regulator/rectifier.

The job took far longer than anticipated as one lower bolt holding the air filter box refused to budge. Persistent beggar. Got it in the end.

The r/r itself requires removal of the air manifold assembly just to get the 2 bolts holding it on off.
Once accessed, all straightforward.

Running at 1800revs ( as hard as i like to run on muffs) a steady 14.2v.

So far so good.
