Pinpointpal tracker

I have a PinpointPal tracker on my boat that has stopped working. Not getting any response from their support line. Been chasing for cpl of weeks now. Beginning to think they have gone bust! Anyone know anything?

Have a look at the visitor posts since mid Dec on their facebook page...

Not very encouraging!

Hmm. My money is on them having gone bust. Fair enough. But i wish they would have the courtesy to update their customers.

Why bother with a third party company.
A £30 tracker & a "pay as you go" SIM......job done.

Well that hardly helps those who have bought into a service.

Well, if it offers an alternative to "buying into another service" I'd suggest it might help them.

If you outsource something that you can do so easily for yourself at very little cost, then it's likely any company providing that as a service is going the have a problem surviving.

You are comparing apples and pears. One is a service, the other is DIY. The Pinpointpal device is a sealed unit, phone network agnostic, and truly plug and play. Yes you can buy various units for £30 or so, but you then need to obtain and manage a SIM card, waterproof them and deal with unknown chinese reliability. For a motor vehicle of value (RIB included), I would much prefer the service, having fannied about with the DIY approach in the past with limited success. However each to their own.

Pinpoint Worldwide Ltd has been incorporated for just over a year (Nov 2015). Companies go bust and shit happens. If they have gone under, I am not faced with a large loss here at ~£200 unused subscription. However what really pisses me off is that the directors are dodging bullets by not being open and fair with their customers, and coming clean. Have had ~2wks of no service on a security device and am at the point now where I need to buy and install something else quickly.

Frankly, the non-action of the director, Paul Woodman is inexcusable. From the public domain, it looks like his home address is:

3 High Street
Abbots Langley
WD5 0AA

woop80@me.com

https://www.facebook.com/woop80

He has disappeared from Facebook and also LinkedIn. Very suspicious.

Does anyone on here live locally to him and wouldn't mind knocking on his door and asking WTF is going on? I am half tempted to pop round from West London on motorbike tomorrow to ask him...

That doesn't sound like the most calm and rational approach to resolving your issue! What could he say or do that would make you happy? Perhaps he went on holiday and all the automated systems broke, or he is ill or has died, but if the business has no contingency then it doesn't help you. I'd focus on getting yourself an alternative tracking approach if it is something you stress about (I don't want to worry you, but this "seemingly dodgy" company know exactly where your expensive goodies are, as will anyone who has breached their security). Then look at getting your money back - did you pay by credit card?

Its quite simple - either a statement saying its all over, or when service will resume. Silence for over 2 weeks is unacceptable, as is withdrawal from the public eye (LinkedIn, Facebook etc).

Public vilification otherwise.

It would appear Mr Woodman started (yet) another company......

PAAS TELECOMS LIMITED (10524699)
Company status
Active
Correspondence address
3 High Street, Abbots Langley, England, WD5 0AA
Role Active
Director
Appointed on
14 December 2016
Nationality
British
Country of residence
United Kingdom
Occupation
Contractor

Looks like he was the sole share holder of Pinpoint.

A quick Google would suggest there was another company before that as well:
https://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/l...ions-direction
Also shows 2 subsequent addresses to the one you believe may be his h/a.

Right. Enough is enough. My Pinpointpal device is being removed on the weekend. Agreed refund with dealer I bought it from.

Game over.

Shame on Paul Woodman, founder and director, for his despicable behaviour of disappearing and not letting his customers know of the demise of his company. All it would have taken was a notice on his website saying its over. Unacceptable behaviour.
