PLB Registration - a record?

Just had copy of my PLB registration on the database -sent in at the beginning of September.

Official registration and label will follow at some stage.

I' forgotten all about this it was so far back!

Make one wonder either how many devices are being regsitered, or if there is a a problem with systems / resource - wouldn't have thought this was the most onerous task.

Hi Lakeland, I must have bought a PLB at the same time - I could have written the exact same mail!

I rang them up in December to ask if they had received my application and they confirmed that all my details had been registered, which was reassuring.

I just got a letter from them saying that they are currently running at 10 weeks. But not to worry the details will be registered sooner, honest!

I registered my PLB back in, oh, 2008/9 and it was the same then. I really wouldn't sweat it - they'll rock up for ANY alert, registered or not, particularly if the co-ords are at sea!

I'm not sweating it, just seems a long time to enter some data into a computer.

I'm confident if iI ever have to activate it, there will be a swift & professional response.

Interesingly enough when I e-mailed them back advising an error in the data they'd entered I got a correction & note ack within 24 hours

Just seem a very long time to key stuff into a database. There can't be that many PLBs bought daily can there?

Just thinking now....conservatively@ 10 mins of data entry & processing per PLB, = 6 per hour x 8 hour day x 5 day week = 240 / week,1 person would do over 12,000p.a. How's there a 6 month backlog?

There's always been a backlog. IMO, it's because they're the civil service and meh! What's important is that it works.

BTW, I reckon a bluddy fortune of the things get sold (and maybe half are registered) each week.
