Raymarine A65 Plotter

Can anyone give me any feedback on this plotter, all comments or suggestions welcome! I currently have a Ray SL 755 but I am told the chart cards are discontinued?

a65

Hi,
I bought one last week after being dissapointed with m garmin 292.
I chose it as it allows ais, its solid and I really liked the sunlight viewability on one I saw at the boat show.
I also like the fact that it is quite compact.
apart from that I have as yet not used it much.
I have pm'd you about the prices I paid.
regards
mike

I have a Raymarine A65, for me the menues took a bit of time to get used to. It is very well built, has very good charts, gets a strong sat lock and gives no problem. Best plotter I have had.

I'm contemplating an A65. Where can a good deal be found?

I'm planning on fitting the Raymarine A65 chartplotter/fishfinder bundle to my new RIB (includes A65 chartplotter, DSM25 sounder, Raystar 12 GPS, transom tri-ducer and free Navionics Gold 28G UK chart). Best price I have found is with Cactus at £899.95 but I do not want to buy from them as I'm a bit concerned about aftersales. Next best price I have found is with JC Technologies (http://www.jgtech.com) for £949. Does anyone know of a better deal?!

Raymarine have a good reputation and build quality is excellent. However, my decision was also influenced by the Navionics charts... I like them, they are good value, and my Geonav hand held plotter takes the same format.

I've got one, I find it fairly easy to use . The screen is easily scratched, I've been carefull and it's still got a few. XL3 charts are easy to come by, overall I'd say it was a good unit.

I've just bought a S/Horizon GX 1500 vhf from these guys http://www.westonemarine.com/. £115 inc. and they're in my town. Had chats and prices re. gps bundles. He reckoned the A65 is hard to sell as it's expensive for limited features. He reckoned the S/Horizon CP300 was selling like warm buns. Price wise, there's not much in it. Loads of features are a bit wasted on a devout Luddite like myself. The A65 does appear to be very robust.

I got our E60 from Cactus no probleam great value,
there was a recall for the screen , i droped it to raymarine at Portsmouth
No charge
I would give rob at Marine Super Store Portsmouth a call
He will always do a deal and they do have a very good after sales.
