Raymarine C -series Software Update

I see that Raymarine produced an update in April.

Does anyone know whether or not I would have to reset the NMEA link with the Icom, when I install the upgrade, or should this remain unaffected?

Thanks!

Chris.

("Aries IV" due in 16 days)

I have just finished the upgrade on my C80 and the NMEA link to my ICOM remained intact

Cheers

Hi guys

What extra functionality did the software give you?

Is there a Raymarine simulator package available?

Is there Raymarine route planning software availeble?

Yep agree totally, not worth the extra money over a Gold Chart, but apart from that am more than happy with my E120.

I have just upgraded my C70 and C80 and the new features that are interesting to me are.......

AIS integration - Fit a AIS reciever and the speed/direction and other data from commercial ships will be shown on the display - This info is recieved by radio - so isn't dependant on your radar picking up the other ship

Navtex - Fit an attenna and the C-Series will display Navtex info.

Engine Monitoring - Now I'd really like to get this to work as it displays all the engine info - including fuel consumption - Only problem is trying to work out what interface cable is needed (to connect to Volvo 2x KAMD300's - OK not in a RIB!!) - Wil it interface with outboards?

Almost here!

Hi Guys,

Thank you for all your comments - very helpful. Now I can update the software soon after I take delivery of Aries IV (Saturday) and not have to worry about messing up the settings before I have really got to know the system.

Thanks CT01 for your kind comments - I can't wait to see it myself! So far, I have only seen it in bits - a hull here, a console there etc.

Roy, I think CT01 might have misled you ... he was looking at it in Scorpion's workshop!

Thanks again for all your views (on this forum) and help while I have been formulating my plans for Aries IV - It will become a reality this weekend!

Best wishes,

Chris.
