Redcar Electronics Marine any good?

Just found this site when looking for the best deal on a Bluechart. Considerably cheaper than Cactus which we usually find the best. Anyone ever bought anything from them? I have sent in a price match form to cactus and will see what they say as it is quite a big saving.

A friend recently kitted out his boat with a full suite of Lowrance gear after his boat sank on the mooring. Redcar did an amazing deal but I've compared a few of their Garmin prices with Cactus and they were way off the mark.

Not heard any problems with there service etc anyway, unlike someone else we could mention

There's a Silly trip in the offing for late May ish. Come on over. I'd love to hear the Channel Ribs saga again in great detail over a lot of Doom Bar.

Well it is difficult to choose which one to go for really but it looks as if it's the best compromise. The France one doesn't cover any south coast, and the south coast one doesn't cover enough France.

VAT may, or may not be paid depending on the mood of the customs officer who check the package

I bought a new Lowrance HDS7 from Redcar as they were the cheapest deal at the time. They were great to deal with

That's very kind of you but it's probably not worth it, stopping by to pick up 100LL is not worth it like it used to be. Pikey Dave has also added a little moral dilemma into the mix... I think we'll be getting it from Cactus if they can price match Redcar or just Redcar.

Bought from Redcar on the 26th and here it is this morning. It is the 2012 chart so 3 versions old but that's fine thanks to the Garmin's 6month update policy. Should we use it this season then update to 2013.5 come September or update to 2013 now....hmmm....

Should add there was a clearly marked note in there pointing out the update thing so all in all, and considering 48 delivery, pretty impressed. Much better than the last (2) times we bought from Cactus.....
