stand alone fuel flow meter
I know it's been talked about before, but a lot of the links on the older threads are now dead.
can anyone point me in the right direction,
im only looking for a basic setup, not interested in all the whistles and bells.
i would just like to know how many litres i've used?
it must be nice to know i've got enough fuel left to get home
And yes i do carry spare fuel

Used to have a Navman 2100. Not sure if they still do them, but wasn't too expensive IIRC.

If the 8000i is waterproof and will do it I'd be sorely tempted...

What about this and this? Not the cheapest but a solution. I'm sure Lowrance do something similar with an LMF200 gauge.

I went through the exercise a while back for our twin diesel boat. Couldn't find a reasonably priced solution.
A lot more out there for petrol motors, especially the newer ones.

If you're going to do that you can achieve the same thing if the engine has NMEA 2000 output and just use the fuel consumption to adjust the levels. A GPS Map 451 will do this, you just enter the amount of fuel in the tank (when you fill up) and the Garmin deducts the fuel as you use it from the total - no flow sensors or anything required!

The Navman/Northstar 2100 Fuel is a really good piece of kit if you can find one at a reasonable price.
I managed to pick one up 'new old stock' with a water damaged box for @£50 4 years ago, but have seen several at about the same price since.
Perhaps I should be buying them up and selling them on

I have just fitted a lowrance LMF400 gauge to Pigs Ear, I then added the EP60R to give me fuel flow:
EP-60R Fuel Flow Sensor Electronic Probe
and the EP65R to convert the tank sender into NMEA2000
Accessories: LOWRANCE EP65R FUEL LEVEL EP SENSOR (120-41)
The gauge and senders came to about £360 all in however I can also use the gauge to display data from the GPS aerial such as speed. I also have a lowance head unit so can display fuel data on there.
My Honda is pre NMEA 2000 however any Hondas post 2005 should be able to display fuel flow data directly without the need for the sender.
Also worth bearing in mind, if you already have a GPS system that is NMEA compatible then you should not need to buy an expensive gauge, instead you may only need to link the engine and the GPS to a simple NMEA network to display fuel flow data.

Be aware that not all GPS systems will display fuel data, some only show litres per hour and don't calculate fuel levels.
