Only the 'E' models are for UK/European use.

HX270E - good radio, robust, but no speaker mic option

HX3770E - has PMR (walke-talkie) capability and can take speaker mic. Only worthwhile if you will use PMR though as quite a price premium over the other two.

HX500E - standard VHF and can take speaker mic. Also has strobe distress light.

Hope that helps.

I've got the 270 and the 500 and I prefer the 500 - its smaller and generally more compact, and has a much better belt clip than the 270 - the one on the 270 is totally useless im my opinion, especially if you keep your VHF on your life jacket like I do and take it on and off a lot. They are both very robust units and have very good battery life. One of mine got left in a locker full of water for several days and worked fine after.

I find the fist mike quite irritating on the 500 so don't normally use it. It would good if SH made a headset that could be worn under a gecko.
