Standard Horizon Mdl. HX850S Still in Use???

New to boating..Does anyone have any experience with the Standard Horizon HX850S Transmitter-GPS?? Is this product still usable today i.e. is the communication technology compatible with what's in use today? (I found a review article dated July 2009 that gave this a very high rating compared to other similar units.) I have this unit with dead battery and missing the charging accessories/cords and asking to see if worth buying to see if if works. TIA

Vhf and gps haven’t changed but hx850s isn’t one I am familiar with, is it a handheld unit or fixed?

Googled it and Lois like it’s very similar to the hx851 I have

I have a hx851 handheld it works fine but batteries are no longer available as new parts but the tray for AA is, the hx890 is the latest model but the hx851 still works
