time to update gps

Hi

Have had my rib for about a month now. Came with an old Raytheon 590 gps which works ok but some of the screen is black and un useable. Can anyone recommend a more up to date gps/ plotter that is easy to use and will keep the wife happy with the cost

Thanks

I nearly did the same, but was put off by stories of the VAT-man chasing after you for his slice of the cake. Did you end up paying tax on top of the final e-bay price?
Also, did you get the chart software from the US?

We did same, even the cheapest british seller on ebay of same item: navman5500 is 100 quid more expensive than the US seller!
( link.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NAVMAN-TRACKER...QQcmdZViewItem )
Add post and packing, + a c-map local chart from this seller...[url]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/C-Map-NT-MAX-Marine-Plotter-LOCAL-Electronic-Charts_W0QQitemZ4644168321QQihZ002QQcategoryZ15263 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and its STILL cheaper than any british seller! Why do we still seem to be getting ripped off in this country?
The tracker was delivered in 6 days by ups. We also got a radio 7200, and a fishyfinder, all under 600 pund. Cant go wrong.

Lowrance 3500C with MauticPath chart, other manufacturers will struggle to beat this combination, although Lowrance have a nasty anti competitive directive that prevents US dealers from selling into Europe, market protection anyone?

That said you'll like the unit and its simple to use with clear mapping at a good price, especially if you go to different parts of the country.

Looks like it has the basic marine map but those screen shots are from additional optional software.

still haven't got it yet I think they are having problems fulfilling orders .

They quoted £150 for the extra chart software , but will see what it does first .

I think you might be right about them having problems, I ordered and paid for one two weeks ago and no sign yet. when I mailed them they said they had a back log.
