Transducer in Ribeye785s 2012

Hi, I have been having problems with my depth readings which are intermittent and then get stuck on a depth and don't move for a while. The unit is the original Garmin GPSMAP 4008 that was fitted when the boat was built.

I am suspecting it might be that something is wrong with the transducer but I have not been able to locate it as think it may be fitted in the hull and there are no access hatches. It is not on the transom. I have contacted Ribeye but am waiting for an answer from them.

Does anybody know where it might be, and also, has anybody suffered with the same intermittent and stuck depth reading issues before?

Thanks for your help.

First thing to do will be to ensure the 4008 is running the latest software (I think V7.80)

You can down load it from here,

Thank you very much for the advice GPSGURU. I am downloading the update now and will do it this weekend before we go out. Thanks again.

Think I may have some corroded wires and bad connection to the antenna as well! Also think that the transducer is in the hull and not accessible which is not great.
