My 135 started playing up & I replaced both relays !
Have you checked the fuses at the back of the engine, mine has a couple of substantial ones?

Thanks paddlers. This one just stopped mind you it was during all that rain. Fuses were my first port I call. Thanks for your time. Hope you enjoy Kintyre I'm just up a bit at Tayvallich.

Cheers Jambo.
We love that part of the world. It's a complete holiday for us all (even when the weather doesn't always help) !
Sorry about stating the obvious previously Have you tried the motor direct from a 12V battery to see if it's dead?

Billy, has it failed in both directions or just up or down? When you press the trim button, can you hear the relays clicking?

Mine failed, but only when i tried to trim up.
Sea Start came out and switched the relays, which worked - although i could only trim up...!!
New relay for me.
Although 'tapping' the old one did make it work intermittently.
HTH.

In that case it could be allsorts. Live supply to trim switch ( has it got a separate tilt switch on the engine cowl? if so does this work?) If you're not getting either solenoid clicking, I'd start at the control box end, could be a dodgy plug in the harness. Without setting about it with a meter, it's all guesswork I'm afraid.

try bridging the terminals on the top of the relays with a spanner or screwdriver

Thanks for that. The result would determine charge I take it?

Trim tilt
I can't remember the setup on that engine but are the power wires heading to you T&T unit blue and green?
If they are they should have bullet connectors on them somewhere within their length, split them there and put power to them, doesn't matter which is + and -, polarity just determines up or down movement.
This should tell you if its the pump motor or not.
EDIT
Just read that the relay isn't clicking, forget my test.

that would rule out faulty relays (as you would be doing the work of the relay by allowing power through) faulty switches and faulty wiring. if it doesnt work then check power is getting up to relays (heavy wires), if so then suspect motor itself

If it is pump motor, then suitable brushes can be stripped in.
Tohatsu didn't sell trim repair kits (brushes, 'o' ring) for my 2006 engine which I was genuinely surprised at and wanted £120 for a new unit. Aye that will be right.
Used Honda CBR 125 brushes, new springs (120B) from Meccano, and topped up hydraulic fluid with Mobil 220ATF.
If it is motor, then open it up and take a look. They're fairly basic inside.

It's not at the control box end then, check out the earth connection for the relays & the motor, they could possibly all come back to the same place.
