Which battery?

Evening all!
I’m looking at replacing the battery on my rib. It’s a 6m Nautica with a 115hp Yamaha.
Any recommendations please?
Cheers

Entirely depends on your budget/requirements. Is it just a starter battery or do you run your electronics off it too? I personally have only used Optima Bluetops since being let down by a generic brand many moons ago. They come at a price, but have never let me down. If you don’t want to spend the cash, then a decent AGM should do the trick. Battery life is as much about care & maintenance as it is about the base battery. Even a high end (expensive) battery will be ruined by a poor maintenance regime.

Cheers!
It’s for both starting and electronics.
Also the bilge pump for when it’s on the mooring for a couple of weeks at a time.

An AGM will last 2 to 3 times longer than a flooded cell battery, along with having more amp hours per size. Optima's are AGM's. Hawker Odyssey batteries are awesome! Otherwise there are only so many battery manufacturers in the world. We have a store called Costco that sells Interstate branded batteries with an easy return policy and decent warranties. Being able to easily warranty the battery is important.

Halfords are very useful for the same reason. Yuasa make most of their batteries. They're typically 3 to 5 year guarantees on them and they have stores everywhere. If you're in the trade or know someone who is, you can get a hefty discount on the retail price too.

I'd go with a decent AGM and if it's sitting for a month or more, stick a trickle charger on it from time to time.

I get all mine from Halfords. I print out the Tayna (or whoever else is cheapest) page for the identical battery including delivery etc and halfords always price match, no quibble.

I just order from Tayna as it nearly always arrives within 24 hours, then I don't have to faff with driving to Halfords!

Ya can't beat delivery to your door, but the drive to Halfords becomes a big plus when it comes to warranty. I've exchanged batteries with them multiple times and you can go to any branch too. It doesn't have to be where you bought it.

Ah, interesting - I've obviously been lucky that so far I've never had a battery die in a period that would be covered by warranty, but good to know for the future!
