Found the problem.
The rectifier is knackered! My brother has spent all day going through every wire.
Now, where the hell do I get one from and how much is it going to hurt?

Anyone know of a rectifier of another make of outboard, later Yam or motorbike that would fit with the connections?

Oddly enough, I've got one of those sat under my desk here at work, whats it worth to a fellow Ribnet member? £50 including the wiring block, stator, 4 spare coils et al?
Pete

No I haven't either. Bought it to use on a very early Yam 115 premix 2 stroke but ended up selling the boat and engine to Ric3.
There are some posts on the net which say don't use it mix the fuel instead but that is just what I was trying to get away from. There are also a fair few comments about the Evinrude 2 stroke mix system, but the one I had always worked well. If you try and track down folk who have used them, it turns out to be a mate who knew someone who..........

You did mate
My brother knows his way with electrics and has all the Wizards wands and potions to test things.
He said the old rectifier was drawing a stupid amount of current. Of the top of my head I can't remember exactly what he said as most of it flew right over it.
Only trouble is, I'm up here and my boats south of Birmingham And I haven't had my jabs so I can cross the divide safely
