Wiring Standard Horizon GX2100 AIS to a Garmin 750S?

Hi,

Have just started replacing my chart plotter with a new Garmin 750S and need to wire it to a SH 2100. Have been told they do work together, but remember from previous experience that Garmin has a different way of wiring NMEA0183 GPS....

Any info out there?

Regards,

Mike

Do they? My Garmin 172s are the same as normal-tx to rx and vice versa.

(NOTE TO Standard Horizon. What a dumb thing to do, making a VHF unit with AIS and not putting NMEA2000 on it.)

Mike is right, garmin use DC -ve as NMEA -ve, where as std horizon have a separate NMEA -ve for each in or out port.

Just connect the std horizon NMEA -ve(s) to The dc supply -ve then worry about matching up the various Tx + and Rx + wires.

I've got a 750s and a Std Horizion 2100 talking nicely to each other, the problem I had was the original wiring diagram issued by SH for the 2100 was incorrect.

The version I used to get things working is here:

http://www.standardhorizon.com/downl...pplication/pdf

If the Hyperlink doesn't work go to the main US Standard Horizion website (not the UK one) and there is a pdf called 'wiring garmin 700 series' which is under the Owners Manuals Tab, Archived, VHF Fixed Mount.
