Yamaha ecu help!

Hi guys, just been told the ecu in our yam 115 four stroke is knackered! £1500 for new one! How can yam justify this? Ideas for cheaper option?

How old is the engine? Some of the older 75-115(maybe pre 2007) yamahas shared power-head with Merc, possible the ecu is the same also. Cost of merc ecus ordered from the US is significantly cheaper than in Europe, even considered vat an custom duties.

Hi & thanks for that advice. It turns out that our engine is a 2002, not 2006 model. So Merc powerhead. We have sourced a ECU in UK at £840! Almost half price, so thanks again. John
