This course will become available from 1st April 2012 and mandatory from 1st June 2012 (TBC at briefing on 9th February) for all applications or renewals of ANY commercial endorsement.
At first it sounded like the RYA's take on the STCW-95 PSSR however having now researched a lot into it and spoken in great depth with the RYA during the pilot of this course I can confirm it is in fact more in depth than PSSR and very relevant to small boat skippers.
Granted some people have been to sea for years and years but unlike any other RYA course PPR makes you aware of several publications and policies that DO apply to small craft under MGN 280 that not many have probably ever heard of.
All in all an excellent course that should (in my opinion) have been brought in some time ago!
