We have a few places still available on our Sea Survival course which will be running at our Oban training centre on Saturday July 10th. Contact me (PM or call 07525 012 013) to reserve a place, and I'll send full course details
Start time 0930
This comprehensive 1 day course for both pleasure and commercial sailors could save your life. It will give you the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge to react effectively to an emergency abandonment with or without a liferaft and includes an invaluable practical session in a swimming pool.
No previous experience is necessary or required
Participants receive the excellent RYA Sea Survival practical course notes book
This course is valid if you are using craft of up to 3000GT, and satisfies the requirements for commercially endorsing a certificate of competence
During the day you will cover:
preparation for survival
life jackets
medical issues
search and rescue techniques.
It includes a practical session in a swimming pool to experience entering an inflated liferaft whilst fully kitted out
You will need to bring your lifejacket (we can provide a lifejacket if you don’t have one or don’t want to use your own – there is a charge of £10 if you choose to use ours) and clean waterproofs for the pool, plus your swimming costume to wear underneath, and a towel of course.
A copy of the RYA booklet “G43 Sea Survival Handbook” is useful pre-course reading (not required, just useful) and is available online from
www.rya.org.uk or Amazon
I hope we shall see you there. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
