VHF SRC 2014 Changes

From January 2014 ALL new VHF SRC applicants will be required to take the VHF Radio Short Range Certificate Exam / Assessment after completing a 1 day course or an online SRC course.

The assessment will be conducted by an SRC Assessor in our dedicated Classroom in Pwllheli, North Wales using the latest Icom VHF DSC Simulators along with a Lightmaster PC Simulator. The assessor will be a different assessor from your course.

The exam / assessment takes the form of 2 parts; A written test followed by practical assessments to include but limited to DSC Distress and Urgency procedures, Voice Mayday and PanPan calls and messages. Routine Traffic, Setting up a VHF DSC set, how to register with Ofcom, Rules and Regulations, Correct Channel use…
