14' AB model VS
Well,
I felt the need for a large RIB and a new project. So I picked up this 14' AB off of craigslist for $1750.
http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/boa/403010579.html
So, now I need to sell mine to build this new one up.

Yeah, he mentioned that. He bought a smaller APEX rib from the dealer on Hayden Island. It's a nice setup that he is going to. This one was too long to fit his 48 ft yacht. He put the 25HP on that. The boat is rated for 40-50HP.
So, I will look for something in that range. But for now I will use my father-in-laws 9HP Johnson, so I can at least do some fishing.
Anywho, I will pick it up in a week or so. Now I need to find a longshaft outboard. There was one on Craigslist last week 1997 40HP with auto trim and tilt. I wish would have snap it up. But the search and configuration is half the fun.
If anyone know of a good deal on a 40 or 50 HP longshaft, remote, electric start. I would be interested.

What do you think of this motor? I will be in Seattle most of this week.

Yes, with the trailer. There is some modification I need to do with the trailer to raise the boat up a bit over the fenders.

Well I got the boat today and the trailer is crap. Oh well, what do you do? I have an outboard on the way, and now I need to figure out the seating for the darn thing.
I am tempted to go with the small console again, but I will see what is out there.
I will miss out on fishing this weekend, but this will be a nice winter project. Hopefully, I will take my time with this one.
I cannot sell another like I just did yesterday. It hurts...

The RIB is starting to come along. I have replaced the old trailer with a 2005 Shorland'r and now the tubes no longer rub against the wheel wells.
The guy who had it before towed it down from Seattle like that. Now there are some lines from the fender wells but not damage to speak of.
I also picked up a 50 HP Mariner and I am eager to test it against the hull. I will post some pictures soon.

Here are some shots from today. Everything went alright for the maiden voyage, and we even landed a couple of sturgeon.
I saw a few inflatables on the river today. There was an old Zodiac SIB fishing right next to us. It was nice to see some other RIBs out on the water cheers. I hope to get out a couple more times this year. But first I need to find out what is leaking out of the lower unit.
Hope to see you out on the water!

Heck yeah! Anytime you want to go, I am up for it. 25 knots or less is fine to cruise at. Any more than that, and I will just go through the gas.

looks great. what kind of speed are you getting from that 50 horse?
do you have any issues with larger sturgeon possibly puncturing the tubes as you drag them over the side?
this one's a possible danger to your tubes i imagine!

I haven't worried to much about them puncturing the tubes. We use a net, since we catch mostly shakers. I have not run into anything over 6 feet. Don't know what to do if that happens.
On the speed, I don't have a GPS or speedometer installed at the moment. So it is hard to gauge the speed.
But it easily planes with little or no effort, and that is without a doel fin or smart tabs. But one thing I can tell is that the hull handles rough water better than my previous RIB. It must be the deep V going all the way back.
