Allow me to introduce myself...(new Yankee ribber)

I'm Lane from the Chesapeake Bay area in the States and I'm new to the forum. I currently own three ribs, an Avon SR6 (ex. U.S. Coast Guard) with two Johnson 70hp, an AB 3 meter with a 25 Tohatsu, and another Coastie boat, an AMBAR 550 Diesel Jet. I've had the AB for awhile, the Coastie boats were a recent aquisition from a gov't auction. The Ambar is an aluminum boat with a bullet proof foam collar and a Yanmar 100hp for power. It's built like a tank and way to industrial for my needs so I'll have on ebay soon. I haven't had the SR6 out yet but I imagine it should be quick and I like the jockey seat, it reminds me of my motorcycle : ) I've been lurking on the forum and drooling over some of the gallery photos for sometime, so I thought I'd introduce myself. I'll try to post a view photos of my adventures soon. -Lane

Ambar 550 and SR6 pics

Here's a few pics of the Coastie boats. The Ambar came from the Coast Guard Cutter Chinook. I'm surprised they left the Coast Guard Seal on the console of the Ambar. They did take the blue strobe, too bad, might have been fun : )

Translation: One is deeply jealous of the Yankee with three boats when one only has one boat.

HA! Now you know how we feel most of the time!!

I like the SR 6, personally. Found one on a government auction site last night, along with a bunch of what are described as SR 4's that sure look like 5.4's. Not that I'm in the market for another boat, the neighbors are not entirely happy with the current fleet that keeps returning to the front of the house! Nor can I afford one new 90 hp outboard for the 5.4 I have, never mind 2 more 90's or a single big OB for a SR 6...

Welcome from this side of the pond. I've seen what those Ambars can do and you might what to go have some fun before selling it. I don't know about speed but they sure can perform some fancy maneuvers. Enjoy!

Hey Lane,

Welcome!! Good to see another US Ribster on the site. We need more!! Most impressive, I must say, as to your collection to RIBs. (and you haven't even sea-trialed one of them yet!!!)

Keep the questions and comments coming; we need more from this side of the pond.

You one lucky mother

welcome buddy,

That Avon SR6

looks in very good condition and will last you for decades!, what a great boat.

That Ambar looks like a supern work boat and would be very suitable as a tug yender/rescue boat. I think you'll find you'll get a lot more advertising that boat on a commercial noat forum or magazine

translation for those not familiar with rogue spell

That Ambar looks like a superb work boat and would be very suitable as a tug tender/rescue boat. I think you'll get a lot more money advertising that boat on a commercial boat forum or magazine
