Best way to mount a Bimini top on a RIB.

What is the best way to do this? I have been out the past couple of weeks and just got drenched. One reason was the lack of adequate rain gear, but the other is no top.

I plan to fish all through the winter for sturgeon and steelhead, so I would like to mount some sort of shelter. All the mounts I see are quite small in size, and don't seem to have the size of base one can glue to hypalon.

Thanks,

John

Not mine... Mine is rainbow colours. I thought the camo look might be better for fishing...

I hear those hats bring alot of pride - but not so good if you want to mount a bikini top.

Taylor Made has a bimini kit for inflatables.

Has the top itself, patches to glue on that mount the supports, and straps to keep the thing up.

http://www.taylormadeproducts.com/catalog/

Select "Bimini Tops and Accessories", then select the "2 bow boa top".

Columbia,

I love that Nova and that setup! I have been thinking about ordering and A-frame, but the thing is when you fish on the Columbia, you are fishing behind you. Sometimes the A-frame can get in the way when you are fighting a fat hog.

I thought about ordering this one, but I just don't know how it will affect my fishing.... As you can see I am all about catch those darn fish...

the Futura I had came with two bimini tops . They had rubber sucker type pads that just rested on the tubes and 2 simple fore and aft webbing guy lines that clipped to a rope or handhold .
I kept the new one but I don't expect I will ever need it as my new boat has one allready .if you want to try it out you are welcome
Its quite secure when its up and folds up neatly. Obviously you would take it down if you were motoring in a rough sea .

no details on that one. strangely enough i just found a very similar top (black as well) used in longview for my c5 rib project. i'll take a picture of it next time i'm at the coast. i know it was made for a zodiac. it has the standard snap/toggle thingy attatchments like on a hard boat. i guess i'll glue on a strip with the male toggles attatched to that.

it will look very similar to that c3 pictured when done except it has more clear plastic for the windows, not that odd porthole window on the side. plus mine will finally be a rib instead of a sib

nwrib,

i agree, that layout it pretty sweet. that's why i saved the picture. i don't do much long distance rough stuff so a bench setup is better for me.

that price on the a-frame seem ok. shipping will kill you i bet though.

as far as fighting big sturgeon, just stand on the seat and fight the fish over the a-frame! maybe.

plus you can hang the keepers from the a-frame and just let them swing like stinky, drippy trophies!

Yeah, I guess I could hang the fish from the A-frame. Sturgeon wouldn't be on they only thing hanging.

Maybe you're right. I do love the look of the frame.

Ian,

That's o.k., I would pay for shipping... why should we let that little pond get in the way?

Iam pretty sure its made by Plastimo .

Just google it and they do a range of sizes with different fixings inc the rubber feet that mine has .
They are about £100 so never worth the postage . If you cant find any info Ill take some pics for you , but its a really simple pram type top with azip cover for when its folded . More of a sun top really , but the one on my new boat keeps the rain off ok unless its coming down sideways
