Burned up! My Mint Willard 730 Diesel Rebuild

I'm on vacation and a friend sends me this link and says, I hope your boat was not in there, but it was.

Massive fire destroys Sundance Marina, hundreds of boats

I'm gutted, 2 years of solid work, new cummins, new konrad, tons of new stuff and perfect boat I wanted to keep for a long time. Up in smoke.

Yesterday was denial, today I'm pissed, cause insurance isn't gonna cover was that was worth.

I guess I'll be searching for a new Willard or Hurricane. Feels like I just lost my best friend.

Jeez, that's more than a bit of hard luck... I wish you better luck with the insurance company.

Wow, that's awful. That's a tough one to swallow, you put a ton of work into that boat. I know hard that would hit me if it was my boat and all I put into mine.

It might be too early for rational though but keep it in perspective, it's just a boat, you can build/buy another. Nobody got hurt/died.

Hopefully you can get a fair settlement from insurance.

Jason

Man... That sux. Who do you have insurance through? Did you have a recent survey done by chance that reflects the true value of the boat? The beauty, (and sometimes the curse) with RHIBS is the values Are all over the map. You see it constantly when people by boats at auction and then jack the price up for resale.

Everyone should be aware of the particulars in marine insurance because they vary significantly. Here is a great article:

I'm sorry to hear that. I would be upset as well....

Sorry to hear your news. Not sure how far you can take things with the insurance company. Pictures, receipts, invoices, supply it all and see if they're prepared to negotiate. Is anything salvageable at all?

Chris,

Very sorry for your loss.
Your build thread, and boat was one of the reasons I bought mine.
Glad you weren't hurt.

Thanks for everyone's words and support. I appreciate it.

I guess looking on the bright side, there is an opportunity to shop for a new ride in the future.

I have no idea how they will even dismantle that mess of a structure, I'm not expecting there to be anything coming out of there.

Geez, that's horrible. Sucks about the insurance, as well.

I hope you find a new boat soon.
