how fast is your rib?
We need a race! If you/we can get away ;-)
I think we're slightly lighter so getting a few knots more. 47knots/54mph with 120L on board and two up, though perhaps a 1 or 2 mph help with tail wind/tide.

HP - I think* I had a little run with you on the Round Anglesey trip - seemed well matched.
*Were you playing with the big 300' that lost the seat cover round near south stack?
I defiantly now need Biffer to work his magic on the hull - so I can get a few more konts!

Indeed! Certainly matches for some cruising as the hulls will run comfortably at similar speeds.
Not me with the 300, that'd be Deano in Rocknrolla, osprey v'max about 7+m with an etec 225HO on I think.

Well Im sure I cruised along side with you for a little bit around that side of Anglesey - May of even been a little further down before I wanted a run at WOT.

Does anyone use Strava for this sort of thing ?
As for consumption I did record 1.2lts per mile for the RIOW trip - but that included lots of messing about WOT and chasing other RIB's. Not really indicative.

Yep, point Lynas to Holyhead we were together, then you cracked on as I went in. But lumpy with wind over tide.

The Delta is doing with the new yamaha 300 'conservatively' propped 46 knots on the GPS doing 5150 RPM. I am not really man enough to trim engine out to max though(yet) ....

Thread drift........
Strava is lots of fun. Fun to just how fast pros that ride your same routes are and a handy tool to see what you have done. Athletic progress at my advancing age is slow so it's nice to have a long record of progress. Also every single ride that started with "I'm so tired tonight..." Was usually a very fast one.

I have been playing with my works boats for the last few years but planning my own first rib soon. Looking at potential top speed - can anyone recommend a good make of rib that could be found second hand for a 6 to 6.5 meter hull and outboard. How about the narrower Humber 6.3 Ocean Pro with a 150hp?

We used to have a 10metre cabin rib with twin 275 on the back which used to edge over the 60knot mark on a good day! think we once did WOT to cowes and back from ocean village and the fuel bill came in at about 250£!!!!

Nice boats but they're not fast for size and power. Deep V and tube tails drag.
You may want a shallower V and point boat with tapered tubes that don't drag... Revenger?
All about balance for what you want.
Our 6.3 with 175hp optimax did 53mph on GPS.

What other hulls in the 6 to 6.5 meter range would be good - the revenger ribs smallest size is over 7 meters. I have spotted that Scorpion do a 6.5m.

Hard to believe I started this thread almost 5 years ago.
My new boat goes around the same speed as my old boat, except a lot more stable.
Yep, big difference in a Novurania 4M and a Willard 7M.
