This was a standard boat and engines, the only modifications were the gearboxes and props.
8m Hysucat - 2x 200 Mercury's (Standard), bullet nose racing gearboxes, low level water pickups, surface piercing props.
74knots / 85mph / 137kmph on final day of testing. Pretty sure it can make 80knots with jack plates on the transom.

I guess Cooke still beats me with his Malcolm Cambell setup

What is the full specification of the boat you are describing ?
That sounds more like a truck .... than a boat.

That's cool, I've managed to get the same figures for the 8.5m Hysucat towing it behind the Jeep.
What size engines you running on the Osprey ?

Just realised my typo. 78kmh is 48mph. Thank you for being polite and not calling BS.

Thanks johndoe007, it was just that I originally wrote 58mph but had just converted wrong from kmh.
Now if I had a pair of your 315hp's I might get a bit closer.

Just tried my SR5 with Suzuki DF90. Got 39.8 knots, but The engine overreved with the original 19" propeller. Will probaly get some more knots with an optimum propeller

Just finished my first 3 hours on the brand new 90hp Tohatsu and could finally go WOT for a minute every ten. Prop is a 13.25 x 17P Stilleto (stainless 3 blade). Might need a little less prop or perhaps the engine is just too tight. RIB is an aluminium Dockitjet 5.6.

I have not had this Rib long and may not be the fastest but it is enough to get out and about in.
Highfield 3.6m with Honda F20
Calm seas with 2 people 19 kts.
Slight chop and swell with 4 people 17 kts.
Cruising between 11 and 14 kts on the plane.
When the waves return I'll take some more GPS tracks

Just sea-trialled our new (2nd hand) Delta 650x with Twin 90hp 2 strokes.
Got it up to 39kts, 2 up with 200ltrs of fuel onboard.
Got about 26 kts on a single engine.

Tend to agree, 40 knots = 46mph. Had 47mph SOG indicated out of my SR5.4 running a 21" P stainless prop at something like 5,500RPM.
Couple of points though:
1. Can't maintain anything much over 44/5mph as it becomes ehm "exciting" and I either have to throttle back or steer slightly to one side.
2. How the hell do you take a clear photo of the instruments at 40 knots plus?!
I can't even read my tacho accurately at that speed, although I haven't had a flat calm day yet.
