I may have found my 7M.

I'm going to go look at it in the next couple of days.
It is a Willard with the IO diesel, and appears to be turnkey, so owner is asking top dollar.
I'm definitely going to have a mechanic look at the engine, outdrive, transmission, and steering setup.
I am wondering if I should hire a general surveyor too?
I think I can look at the tubes by myself. Not really concerned about electrical, which will either work, or won't work. This only leaves the hull. The last boat I bought the surveyor tapped all over the hull with a little non metallic hammer. I don't know if this is a test for water intrusion, hull integrity, dry rot, or what?

As usual, any and all advice is welcomed and appreciated.

taping is for delimitation and rot, Willards have no wood and are all infused, so the chance of any issues in the hull is extremely rare.

You only really need to worry about the hull where the diesel tank is to make sure their were no leaks that lead to the diesel permitting into the glass, take a rubber hammer or plastic end of a screw driver and tap every inch and listen for a change in pitch. I have done 5 Willards so far and have not found any issues with them , but have done 5 733's and found small issues with all of them.

Thanks Ryan,,,,,,

but it appears that this deal isn't going to happen.
I can't get the guy to return my calls anymore.
I don't think it was a scam, but you never know.

I do have another 7M I'm looking at this weekend.
It's a Northport, which I have never even heard of.

More research, another thread,,,,,AAARRRGGGHHH!

There is some info on here about Northports, another manufacturer for the 7m specs.

There is a cryptic for sale ad that showed up yesterday for a "zodiac hurricane". Or maybe it was hurricane zodiac on here. The phone number traces back to a tow/salvage company in Florida. Sounds like he's describing a 733 but it could be something different.

Jason,

Thanks for the tip.

I called him and had quite a lengthy conversation about his boat, and he sent me a couple of pictures too. Seems like a nice enough guy, but still not sure what exactly he is selling. He mention about it possibly being a '86 600. He said he did get quite a bit of a response from this site.
