Just bought did I get a good deal?
Bombard explorer wb 385
Johnson 30 HP
Trailer
Uniden VHF
Lowrance GPS/Fish Finder (hopefully)
Custom NAV Frame
$2500.00
This boat owner has posted here a lot I found several topics about the boat and a little more of the history "truth".
Anyways I would really like to find a group of people to go cruising with. This is our 1st family boat and we are all really happy to have found it!
Thanks
Nick

Looks good! I don't think you can purchase a new 30 Johnson for 2500.

Gotta have something to hang onto to take a leak!
That does look like a really good buy.

Thanks
I just took it out today and with the bench so far back it is really hard to get on plane but once it's up she goes about 29 30 mph
The worst part is I launched in the salem riverfront boat launch and up and down the river depths as shallow as 2 ft.
Well I messed up the prop! So I am on the hunt for a new one.

Yeah,
Way to rub some salt in the wound. And yes, it is a GPS/Depth Finder. Welcome to the world of RIBs Nick!

Hopefully, I can get up and running again. This last one hurt a little, but no pain no gain.
She's (Sheala) a good RIB. I am surprised you ran a ground in two feet of water, she doesn't draft much.
The most economical place to get a prop, would be Overton's. For the price I would get two and have a spare on board. Especially with the shallow rivers around here. There is a Johnson dealer in Oregon city, and the have the prop in stock 10 x 13 for around 130.00. Overton's has them starting around 59.99.
I would be up for a cruising trip, once I am back on the water.
John

Mobboss; don't feel too bad; props are expendable (at least, I tell myself that...)
If you run in/near skinny water, it's a good idea to have a spare with you; it may save the embarassment of being towed back in.
So, is that Salem, OR; or Salem, MA?
Have fun;
jky

In general, you choose a prop for WOT rpm with a "normal" load (whatever that may be.)
If the 15 you have on there now is running a few hundred rpm shy of the max suggested rpm limit per the manufacturer, then a 13 should be fine.
You probably can under-prop it a tad and get away with it, as long as you don't run WOT for long periods.
Of course, to get actual rpm's you need to have a tachometer...
