John,

are you looking at a carbed or injected two stroke ? If carbed will it be oil injected? Will the kicker be oil injected or pre mix? The 50 two stroke will woop it up on the 40hp four stroke and if one of the fuel and oil injected motors will give about the same fuel economy. If both the kicker and the main motor are pre mix or both straight gas then you could run both motors off one tank if you keep both motors the same. Would help keep the clutter down in the boat.

Stan,

The kicker is a 3.3 HP premix/2 stroke. There is a built-in gas tank on it that I think is 1.5 quarts. I am going to carry a spare 1 or 2 gallon tank for refills. The 50 HP would be oil injected 2 stroke and I am guessing carb. It would make sense that it is. I don't know of any fuel injected two-strokes.

John

Well, I got both motors mounted. Now I need to install the fuel filter unit and run all of the cabling.

Well the motor is in the shop. Can you believe it! And she is not even wet. I got the throttle and shift linkage setup and for some reason or another it won't shift into reverse.

Off to the dealer and found that the shaft for shift in the lower end is hitting something. WTF! On a brand new motor. Sigh.

The motor has a bent shifting shaft.... So it is still in the shop at Camas/Washougal. I am hoping to have it back next week. I need to redo the electrical and add a different panel box and steering wheel when I get back in the garage.

Sigh...
