No RIBS, just North America
I've been tidying up some loose ends lately. One of them was a box of Kodachrome slides that I was given from my late Grandfather's personal effects. He was a keen traveler and toured extensively in Europe during the 1960s. Around 1967 he visited the Western States. Here are a few digitised slides that might interest you LA/Frisco types. I'll spare you the endless shots of the Grand Canyon and the many desert pics

I swear that must be the man from U.N.C.L.E. in the first pic. [<Joke ] My grandfather's surname was Cameron, so that explains the other pic - musta been delighted to see that

I like them a lot, I was not even born when these would have been taken or for a good while yet but I love looking at photography. I really like the hotel and street shot, they both seem to capture the freedom and optimism of that generation. Very stylish

The man from UNCLE was/is Robert Vaughn. He does TV ads for local stations in New England. That's not him.

Thanks, I forgot to put a winking smiley after that comment. So yeah, another bit of humor goes MIA but hey, at least you knew that I was referring to Vaughn and not McCallum

Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf SF, don't know any of the middle ones, but the last two are probably Sea World in San Diego.
Nice pics, Willk; thanks for sharing.

And generally when you fast forward half a century there are more.... He musta taken a Bay tour - 'cos there are a wealth of Golden Gate snaps
I have bad memories of the Golden Gate. I drove over it back in 2000 and the very next day I got engaged to a lady in Calistoga, (Sarifornia )
I blame the Pinot

Ah, no. There was quite a bit of Goosecross Chardonnay involved too, IIRC (which I may not). The hangover has passed but Mrs willk endures.

Thanks for posting the pictures! I pass by Alcatraz a few times a week and I didnt even recognize it in that photo, was thinking, "too many buildings to be Alcatraz."
