How do you display/attach your boat state regisgration numbers/letters?

I attached them to a wooded board and hang them near the bow when the boat is in use. Gotta be a better way.

Vinyl lettering is one option. The other use to use a template and "paint" the number on using inflatable paint boat. Pretty sure I've seen kits for the latter option in West Marina in the US.

There is a much better way... http://boatnumberplate.com/inc/sdetail/4110/4082

FWIW, the US Coast Guard regulations (as well as state regulations) require reg numbers to be permanently attached to the boat... your wooden board reg number set up would not be considered legal.

This is how I display my registration numbers and it is USCG compliant.
I purchased all materials from Freeport Marine Supply on Long Island. I used two Bernard registration plaques, vinyl letters and used two Ancor stainless steel cushion clamps to attach the plaques to the D-rings. Very easy to do and meets USCG requirements.

I'll take the ticket before I put stickers on the side of the boat..

I run the plastic number boards secured to rope stringers with carabiners.
