RIB needed for Charter

I am planning a long time trip before my wife's greduation from Stanford University. I want to charter a RIB during the summer quarter (about 3 months). Does anyone have an RIB of 6m or up that can be chartered? We can accept a price of $5000~$10000 for 3~4 months. We live in San Francisco area and can pick the boat up from within 1000 miles.

Please contact me at sdlwm@yahoo.com if you are interested. Please include the specs of the boat. (It'll be great if you can include the top speed, the cruising speed and some pictures of the boat.) We will charter the boat right away if it meets our needs.

Not trying to be funny, BUT....

How does anyone here know to trust you? You want someone to trust you with their boat without necessarily having all public liability insurance etc.

When a boat can meet our requirement and a deal is made, we can provide the boat owner whatever it needs to rent a car or depending on what the boat owner wants.

I think the SF Sailing Club rents a largish Zodiac RIB, but I don't think it's available for charter (not too much small boat cruising done on this coast.)

Where were you planning on taking it?

Not sure I got the firm that rents out the Zodiac correct. I'll look into it and post the correct name when I find it. Here it is: http://www.sfbayadventures.com/charters.htm

Wait a minute. I just reread your post. 1000 miles puts you in Canada, Near Cabo San Lucas, and out to Colorado. Why not buy a boat and resell it when you're done? It would probably end up being cheaper, all in all.

jyasaki, thanks for your information!
We are student family at Stanford. We have about $20000, which is not enough to buy a 6m RIB. The bank won't give us a loan because our salary is pretty low at this moment and the house rental is $1300 per month. The debt to income ratio is more than 40% because the bank treats the house rental as a debt. Actually we are looking at the 2008 Zodiac pro open 650 ($41000). Do you know whether there is a way for us to buy this boat?

Look for one about 10 years earlier. New boats are damned expensive; that goes away pretty quickly when you start looking at used boats.

Drop by a chandler (West Marine, etc.; not really sure of any others on your side of the SF Bay) and take a look at some of the free magazines. Most have a classified section in them. Be aware, though, that RIBs are not as popular here as they are in Europe/UK. Still, they show up every now and then.

Seems to me that if you go with the new one, you've got the boat as collateral, so a company that does boat loans should be able to work something out. Don't know.

Oh, and... Go Bears. :-)
