RIBs on Cape Cod..?

New (prospective) RIBer here, newcomer to Cape Cod, MA.

Just wondering about forum RIB users from MA and RI?

I may get a used RIB rig for the protected waters of Cape Cod Pleasant Bay - family outings (2 adults, small pooch), nothing outlandish, and wonder if locals would chime in with advice...?

Sounds like a great idea! I don't live their but my father-in-law does and I have spent plenty of time plying Pleasant Bay on a Laser A rib should be fine.

Well, the islands (Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) are part of Cape Cod, but they have that "playground to the rich" feel. Nantucket municipal airport in the summertime is one of the regional busiest, rich and famous flying in from N.Y. City..!

The "sandbar", i.e. Cape Cod itself is more diverse. Many small farms, still, tucked out of the way of the huge tourism industry.

The local geology is quite unique - peninsula is only 20.000 years and will be gone, eroded away in, say, 6000 years...!

And yes, a RIB is tempting. I spent a good deal of time shopping for an older 17' plastic boat, lots of potential issues.

Very nice area to visit (or was last I was there some 20ish years ago.)

Wouldn't see a problem with a RIB based on location (unless you had to moor the boat - marine growth control seems to be more of a problem with fabric tubes.)

Being the US, all I remember seeing at the time were Whalers, Grady Whites, a large number of really expensive cruisers, and other hardboats.

you could probably save money by getting a nice used hard boat around there. There are lots of them but nobody ever got a rib looking to save money.

True, on both counts form what I see.

Spouse is not really on board, so to speak, with a RIB...

I trailer my 733 all over the place, and it is perfect for the typical Buzzards Bay chop. There are too few of us RIBbers around, so hope you can convince your wife!
