Why I married the girl I just married...
I came home last night to find my new bride with her head buried in my pile of engine catalogues. Apparently, she thinks we should have a new Verado on our boat because she thinks a supercharger would be a good idea. (Lord knows why she thinks that, since she can barely fill the washer fluid jug on her car...)
Damn, I'm smart~

Wow! No doubt you made certain that your premarriage counsellor was also a certified outboard tech.
So.... she's attractive, way younger, AND understands the importance of a high performance outboard. Well done, Stoo !

Now it is her boat of course she want a better engine (is the law the same in Canada as the states "what was yours is now hers") My wife thinks a four stroke is the way to go quieter, no smoke etc. but that means she will want to go out more and that might cut into dive time with the boys

Fortunately, my Missus is my chief boat-tender as I dive alone most of the time. (She is strictly a warm-water type...). So far, the boat has only drifted away once while I was down (damn bowlines...) but she brought the boat back eventually. We were three miles off-shore, at midnight, so I was pleased she was able to find me!

Not quite. What was mine before, remains mine. Of course, to keep the boat away from the last Mrs. Stoo I had to give her my house and a massive amount of cash. The new-improved-future-ex-Mrs. Stoo (being half Italian and half Irish) would probably just have me "off'ed" if I mis-behave (!), so I won't need a boat then anyway. (My last ride in it would probably be to dispose of my corpse...)

So there could be a down side. Best buy that Verado and make use of it while you can....

The Mrs. loves to dive to when the air temp is 80+ and water at least 60 degrees. Stoo did I marry your first wife, just to get away with the clothes I could carry gave up the house, retirement fund and my dignity. This wife just my manhood if the marriage did not work but after 18 years I know my limits.

LOL... I hear you Brother! Even though we just married, we have known each other one way or another for many years (former diving student!) but I think she considers me a bit of a work in progress... Mind you, I started her diving and skiing... in return, I became a Laundry B*tch and Vacuumer Extraordinaire! Ugh... The price one pays...

You just need to brainwash em....
Well guys... I admit that I have never tied the knot due to the fact that I never felt I had the "perfect" boating woman so I knocked one up and bingo! I have a kid I can indoctrinate to my way of thinking which, to be quite truthful, has been VERY easy as the "acorn" does not fall far from the tree... My ex was never all that enthused about boating, I think she did it because I loved it. My child however, is another animal entirely, she cannot wait to get out on the boat and is entirely behind Dad in any and all boating adventures... I am quite comfortable with this arrangement. I want the company of a mature female... but if I cannot find her, I can always put the kid at the helm when I am feeling lazy...my daughter's most recent comment to my stating that dad would have some female friends along this summer was that the "amateurs should step aside" This from a ten year old... You gotta love it!

Sadly, "War Machine" will likely be replaced by some "Love Machine" in the next few years... My kids loved the boat whn they were younger, but never go near it now...

Just the opposite in my family, my 25 year old son nags me all the time "let me take the boat out I promise not to wreak it". Just like thousands in tuition he pissed away, 2 cars we bought for him used to go 4-wheeling. I am not signing up for that program again, you got to love them because if you throttle them the time served in prison is not worth it.
We would like to adopt a little girl so it is good to hear how well your daughter likes the boat. With your boat she will scare the crap out of any boy that treats her cross just by taken them for a ride.

It is inevitable that the "love machine" will come along although I don't see the "love machine" replacing the boat... Dad will become second fiddle in his little girl's life but that's how things are... I think she will always love the water, in that I think I have been successful... And hey, if I get upset over it I can always go for a great boat ride... On the Great Lakes... Right Stoo?
Doug, go for the adoption, it's all good if you have time to teach/show them the life, good luck!

Thanks Stoo for the offer but looking a little younger that way when she comes home with her boyfriend and says "Dad he is just like you" I will be in a state of dementia that I will not understand. Personally adopting a dog sounds like a better idea, you can always put a dog to sleep , But the Little Woman has put up with me and my 2 sons all these years and she has had enough of Hatch men (Hatch, last name)

So that would make you the original Hatchet-man? My new bride went through that whole "spawning" thing.... We did get a new puppy!
