Willard 730 Stern Bracket help

I'm looking to put a Armstrong bracket on a willard 730 and wanted to know if anybody had any experience doing it and good or bad story's. Looking to run 2x150 suzukis.

You'd probably have more luck on one of the offshore sportfishing forums. Those guys will do anything to get a bit of an edge on the competition, er, fishing buddies.

Might try TheHullTruth or FishSniffer for starters; I am not familiar with the East Coast forums.

Luck;

I've retrofitted Armstrong brackets on two Zodiac-Hurricane 640's as well as a newbuild 45' catamaran and they're good stuff, you can't go wrong....

Just make sure to get the vertical placement correct to work with your particular motor lengths. I would recommend XL (25") shafts if going to twin configuration or XXL (30") if going single.

Zodiac-Hurricane built their own twin engine transom bracket to retrofit on some I/O specwar 733's, this is the one that ended up on the CZ7....

Hopefully, Sunrider will chime in, this is one of his areas of expertise...

I bought Sunrider's 733 with the bracket. It's about 3 weeks from being splashed... I'll keep you posted.

I've never mounted or used an Armstrong bracket so can't offer anything in that regard. I chose a full buoyancy transom extension to offset some of the outboard weight.

Here's an update on my "poor man's" CZ7. It's a former US Navy Hurricane 733 mid i/o that now has a transom bracket and twin 150 two strokes like the CZ7.

19 Pitch Props (damaged)

3500 rpm 35 mph
4000 rpm 40 mph
4500 rpm 45 mph
5000 rpm 50 mph wot 100 gallons and 2 on board.

One engine only

4000 rpm 33 mph

4700 wot 37 mph full fuel 3 pob

Not sure if a 4 stroke 150 would get it to perform as well on one engine.

I have a pdf of the Zodiac designed transom bracket - should fit the 733 and also the Willard 730. If anyone would like a copy email me directly at sunrider@lisco.com and I'll send it in reply.

Gil bracket

I've built custom made hypalon tubes for Willard & having said that I spent alot of time in the last 17 years with ribs world wide . You will have no problem at all mounting engines on a bracket on this boat , I would recomend you have a bracket that matches the hull shape .

Build an extension

I built out a Willard 730 with an Armstrong Bracket (2 in fact) neither did the job. The boat needs a hull extension bracket like the Zodiacs. I put twin 175hp Suzukis on the boat and the balance was off with the Armstrong. Hope this does not come too late.
