Zodiac Hurricane 733 Center Console and Windshield Top
I thought I'd share some progress on a new center console and top I've been working on for my next Zodiac Hurricane 733.
The console is ergonomically designed with some nice styling features including a front door on gas shocks to access the storage inside.
The width is sufficient for 2 side by side and the dash has plenty of room to install electronics.
The one piece fiberglass top mounts perfectly to the console and will have recessed glass windows glued in place.
Construction will be Balsa cored fiberglass for stiffness and light weight.
I will have a set of moulds for these 2 parts once I'm done so i could have more made if anybody might be interested in a set.
The console foot print is a direct replacement for the inboard diesel 733 and willards.

Very cool. I have a Willard 730.
I just had a custom windshield fabricated for it. And next is an arch + bimini arrangement.
I can't wait to see this progress. Which Hurricane was your "last" one?

I like your windscreen.
A wiper is definately a must for the pacific northwest.
This is my old Hurricane 733.
It was a bit chili in the winter which is why I'm going with the new console, top and windscreen which can be completely enclosed with canvas when the weather is nasty.

How heavy do you think the top half will weigh? (as a Willard owner, I think of all that weight swinging back on the rear hinges when accessing the engine)

@mkb243
Ah I remember that boat. Very nicely done. Definitely worth what you were selling it for.

looks good. I hacked up my 733 console since I am going to an outboard. Shortened the front section by a foot or so and was inspired by your old boat to hinge the front so I can get in there. No head, just storage space. I got a Suzuki 250 for mine so hopefully it can get out of it's own way
No good pictures on my phone but looks like this

The top will weigh about 70lbs with glass windows installed.

The “plugs” are all polished and waxed in preparation for laying up the moulds next week.

That looks sick!!!
Also an insane amount of work for a one off.
I assume this mold would be available for additional custom work?
Unfortunately or maybe fortunately for me I am already far down the path of building off my existing console.
Building a rear arch and forward arch setup that will hold a folding bimini. I am also in the PNW but will use this for a flexible summer shade + soft wall setup for winter.
These pics are before paint and final install and just before bimini work has started.
I should have more shortly.
Sorry, I don't mean to squat on your very cool thread, and I'll gladly pull this out to a separate one.
Just that these boats are obviously related and interesting to see the different takes on fixing the same problem. Shade, shelter, etc...

Just startting to build the windshield/top's today for the first 2 consoles.

Really nice Job! Is that console done in two parts? Looks like their is a seam on the front.
Do you have a 733 jockey console for sale?

Yes
The mould is split down the center so a filler section can be added to make the console wider
for when I get my hands on a usmi11m.
The width of the top is also adjustable.
I have 2 sets of 733 jockey consoles for sale.
