If you want something that's cheap to run, reliable, comfy and refined on a long journey what about a vw tiguan diesel. I'm not sure if you. Can fit a front winch though.

This guy is local to me and sure knows how to charge. Quite a few things on your list (and others) including 110 Land Rover, VW Tiguan diesel, Mitsubishi L200 and Hilux, VW Amarok (slightly over budget), more Freelanders than you can shake a stick at, etc.

Just looked up the road tax and it is cheaper on the disco plus the MPG is better!

But you do get a newer 110 when compared to the Disco.

A stick is the best thing for Freelanders!

I heard that the original Freelanders came with an optional offroading kit, consisting of a 90 and a dog.

The 90 was to pull you out of the mud and the dog was to bite anyone who laughed at you.

Delivered this to Surrey on Friday - a bit noisey! 91,000 and still very tidy.

Obviously I couldn't divulge what a particular customer had paid for a vehicle but we sold a similar one for £13,000 including VAT - they hold their money don't they!
