Not the most boaty topic in the world but......Does anyone have any experience (good or Bad) with wheel refurb companies in Portsmouth/Southampton area.

The wheels arent massive but could do with a little tlc.

Any advice much appreciated.

I've used Auto-wheels in Droxford before. Helpful guy that runs it. Just google it.

I've used the wheels specialist in Fareham 3 or 4 times now. Mainly for repairing bent allows from pothole damage but I've also had one wheel refurbed and had them supply me 2 new tires one of the times I was there.

They aren't the cheapest around but service is second to none. They'll refurb 4 wheels in a day ( most places want at least 2 days) and when ever I've turned up with damaged wheels they've repaired it within 24 hours even if I've not pre booked. Speak to Sarah on reception. Very helpful and friendly.

I had a bad experience at Wheelsmart in Southampton (A1 powder coatings). I decided to try them as they were cheaper and nearer to me. The monkey who runs the alloy refurb part of the company trashed my locking wheel nut key trying to get my wheels off meaning all 4 wheels were permanently fixed to my car including the damaged one. He hadn't fitted it properly and proceeded to hammer it into the wheel nut before swinging on it and ripping it to bits before blaming me for the nuts being tight. I promptly collected my damaged goods and went to the wheel specialist who sorted my damaged wheel and I then had to pay my local garage to remove the remaining locking nuts as my key was beyond use. AVOID wheelsmart!

Also beware that some companies who claim to refurb just spray paint the wheels with the tires still fitted rather than shot blasting all the old coating off back to metal, treating and repairing the metal and then powder coating and baking which is what they really need.

We took the Mrs' TT the local Audi bodyshop, he charged £40 per wheel and they look like new, he gave the rest of it a good polish too.

Cheers Guys,

I spoke to the chap at The wheel specialist (a few petrol head websites gave him good reviews) and his price was very competitive so booked up there.

Thanks for the advise.
