I was chatting a mate in the motor trade and he reckons like for like cars registered before March 1st 2001 are actually likely to be worth more than newer examples.

I want to move to Wales where "people on the poverty line can afford to own and run a car".

Maybe I should introduce you to a mate of mine who had to give up work to look after his kids after his wife buggered off. He had to sell his car a while ago and the poor kids suffered compared to their friends as he couldn't take them anywhere. He managed to save up enough to buy an old Metro and now he's panicking to see if it will get through the next MOT.
I can assure you he's about as close to the poverty line as it's possible to be - you just don't have a clue!!!
Oh and he doesn't drink or smoke either...........

I think that was kind of my point? Most people who are "at the poverty line" can't afford to run any car...

I'm with Polwart on this one. Being close to the "poverty line" means not being able to afford to eat, heat a home, afford a home etc etc.
A car is a luxury rather than a right and next to nobody had a car in my street when I was a nipper, don't feel all deprived as a result..............

Things are very different now. A car is no longer a luxury - try giving YOURS up and you will see what I mean!!! Public transport is a joke out of city centres.
I HAVE been in the situation you mention above - eating marmite sandwiches on christmas day in a house with no heat or light awaiting repossession which I finally managed to get out of. I was without a car for 3 years and was too broke even to afford bus fare but that is living BELOW the poverty line. Being without a car was worse than anything else I went through - especially when you have to walk everywhere and when you get soaked through you can't even dry out at home.
When NOBODY has a car it's not so bad - when you are the only one it's not funny - try explaining that to your kids!!!

Here is a classic example of a car NOT being a luxury. My mate originally from the Gambia just phoned me very upset to say the radiator has gone on his P reg Honda Accord. He works nights for minimum wage and has no other form of transport - no buses go to where he works and taxis are way too expensive. Oh he can't really walk either has he only has one leg!!!
I suppose he could just give up and survive on benefits but he is the hardest worker I have ever seen and very proud and independant.
I am about to go and take his car in on a a trailer to have the rad reconditioned - as it's typically a bank holiday weekend I will have to give him a lift into and out of work.
Maybe I should tell him he doesn't need a car and it's a luxury???

With the old system they would have had the votes counted by 3am. Now it's computerised it could take until tomorrow..........

Codders you haven't read the question, which suprises me as you normally have an eye for detail. I asked were does the the chip go?

Be fair look at the time!!!
It only applies to late 300tdi autos fitted with EDC - pretty rare.

Or you could go for one of the JE Engineering fuel pump upgrades:
