Car

I looking for a 2005-2006 good towing car, with comfort.

Audi A6 2,7 Tdi or 3,0 Tdi avant.
Land Rover Discovery 3 TD V6 SE
Volvo XC70 or XC90 Diesel, or a V70Awd Diesel
BMW 530 or 535 Diesel (530xd?)

Right now Audi A6 is nr.1

I have had mine for over 2.5 years with out any real problems, it has never let me down!
Had a Merc C class B4 & the quality is very similar!
Have taken it on many long trips down to the Alps & Loire Vally & it makes for a very comfortable long distance cruiser as well as a tow car!

I've had this car for 6 months - lots of long distance driving, a bit of towing. Layout, space, load capacity, comfort, economy good by any standards, excellent for a large 4wd. I love it!

You've obviously never driven a Discovery 3 for any length of time

Bong bong bong is the noise you get when something breaks (which happens quite often) and all the Christmas tree lights come on to tell you it is time to put your hand back in your pocket to extract your long suffering wallet.

I still have my now nearly six year old Discovery 2 V8 for a good reason - its had a tenth of the problems of any of the D3's half its age.

Yes I love the D2 - to me it's the pinnacle of LRs - still got beam axles and yet very civillised. It's awesome offroad. And from what I remember of the 15,000 miles I covered in one no annoying bongs either!!!

A little concerned by that comment - having just looked at getting one. Test drove an hour ago. Was a little dissapointed with the economy being shown - not quite the claimed urban cycle but I did like it. D3 TD4 SE...

Td4 ? you was robbed!
Mine shows a combined mpg of 26, but thats with very little dual carriageway and no motorway.
Oh and its been all but faultless (1 false indication) in over 3yrs and 32k miles.
There were early faults reported, but now the dealers know what they're doing with them reliability shouldn't be an issue.
