Nasher - seen the posts on Disco3……
Was pleased to see its got GG AT's freshly fitted. Shakers in Ludlow say its the only tyre they fit to Discos, they reckon upto 40k miles from a set.
Need to sort a towbar out now.....

Oh, and welcome to the club
I'm glad somebody else thinks they look better without the steps, I particularly dislike them.
Nasher.

Can help with that, if you want to fit your own. Get min 50% discount from quite a few manufacturers and will ship direct to you. Nothing required for me, btw, just happy to help.
All the best

Side steps
I completely agree, in fact we actively avoided ones that had them on, changes the whole look of the car for the worse to me.
Chucked into the deal we have seats covers for all 7 seats and a boot liner.
I've read negative comments about the LR OEM seat covers - any experiences on here?
Al

LR seat covers are good, but the set we got for the TD5 take ages to fit, I just use a cheap set of waterproof ones, easy to fit/remove and wash

They are the dogs, Just fitted some new ones..(second set) to my 11 year old TD5 Disco. They fit spot on and take everything you throw at them. The original ones are living on in my mates work disco(covering up some nasty blue and grey leather )

Wouldn't bother with covers if you have leather but LR ones are good

Fitting D3 towbars is mostly a DIY job, both the removeable one and the multi height one, as the main mounting points are pre-fitted at the factory doing away with the need for a professional fit.
The electrics are also easy, just route the cables and plug into the waiting sockets behind the nearside rear light cluster.
What you can't do yourself is activate the system without a visit to a main dealer, or somebody with a faultmate or similar D3 compatible system to tick the correct box in the ECU.
Some people do run without this being done, but if it is done the car changes some suspension settings etc when it detects a trailer board is plugged in.
Another member on Disco3 did mine in a pub carpark after a local get together.
Remember also that using an LED lightboard plays havoc with the D3 Canbus system unless load resistors are fitted in parallel with the indicator LEDs to simulate the resistance of a filament bulb. The system detects a trailer board by sending a small pulse through the indicator circuit.
EDIT
Just been over to Disco3 and seen you've already been told all this
Nasher.

I can get hold of a detachable one from Brink for you (they supply Land Rover, I believe).
RRP is £355 + vat. Cost to me is £180 + vat. Can have it sent directly to you.
Kind regards, Ben

Insurance
was very pleased to find out that the insurance on the HSE is cheaper than the out going XC90!
One more trip in the XC90 - Salcombe, Mylor, Padstow, Salcombe, then she goes back to Volvo.
Have to say, the car has given us 3 completely trouble free years, but can't wait to get the D3.
Al
