Lovely machine, but no air bags, no electric mirrors and unfortunally, still built by land rover. I rather my series 1 and disco commercial, no better combination.

I think that must be the only car vid I've seen where the vehicle doesn't actually move! Have they put an engine in it?

Also looks like they've rinsed it down during every 'action' shot (or maybe craned it into position?)

You might want to consider the 'new' landrovers... santana.co.uk

We went to a test day yesterday and there s not a lot of difference... except the top of the range one comes in at around £22k on the road.

Oh but no airbags until next year and they're steel - galvanised chassis thou.

Very nice motors...

I think it looks like the magazine have filmed the pictures that were released to make it look like a film

Interesting to see that they have just welded the front air vents closed, I guess it must have aircon, they say the heater is 50% more efficient plus the 6 gears gives it a wider range for towing and motorways. All the curvy stuff leaves no flat area on the dash for gadgets or cups of coffee when you are parked up It doesn't look too different from outside to the present one, just the hump on the bonnet really.

I wonder how the price will reflect with the changes?

I agree, I have one and love it, it is status less and is accepted everywhere

In a couple of years they are going to do a radical change, this is just a quick fix to try and comply with emmissions and other laws.

I couldn't believe it when they said they had removed the front air flaps - the best feature ever on a Land Rover. Works so well you don't need aircon - also stops dust being sucked in through the rear door as it causes slight overpressure.

Who needs airbags though? Tanks don't have them!!! Neither do rally cars - give me a cage and a harness any day.

Stoo I hope they have caught up with the rest of the world on the reliability and rust side. They certainly charge enough for those little 90's to be made of satinless steel.

Sorry I don't agree on that one. Plenty of 4 X 4 s get abused of all sorts of makes and they don't seem to spring rust like Land Rovers. Land Rovers spring rust along seems and bottom of doors. I'm not a lover of Japanese 4 X 4 s, but hard worked ones of those don't rust the same.

I have looked at Discoverys and 90's because I am considering buying one and I was most depressed to see the amount of rust springing up on vehicles less than 10 years old. To me rust is the death of a vehicle. It costs a lot to put right, far more than mechanical problems.
What i'm saying is in my opinion these are good vehicles for the European market but their anti rust qualities hark back to BL days. If they are going to charge the prices they do for these vehicles they could at least spend a bit more time making them rust proof. If as they say they get far more abuse than other 4 X 4 s then they should be built to withstand that abuse.

I suppose we'll agree to disagree on that one.

Have been looking at these.
Would like to take one for a test drive.
Did the fact they have done away with the seats being mounted on a box make a lot of diff with regard to elbow room etc?

I ve personally not used LR much but they seemed very spacious. We road tested it with 5 of us plus the salesman - 3 across the back seat was cosy but not unplesant. The one we tried also had the side facing seats in the cargo space. The others that had used LR said these were roomier.

Also the payload is 1 tonne so is classed as a commercial vehicle and the VAT is reclaimable.

Actual towing capacity is 3.5 tonnes with max train weight of 6050kg without a tacho.

LR is run by accountants and we wonder why the finish is shabby. For instance, my 4 year old 110 is now having further remedial work to keep on top of corrosion. Chassis is painted with a non-UV-stabilised paint, ‘cause it’s cheaper.. unfortunately the rear cross member is exposed to the sun.. so paint degrades and it rusts. Body cappings used to be galvanised, but that cost several pence per vehicle and was dropped.. surprise, surprise they now rust… A proper insulator was put between the doorframe and the skin at one time.. now they just feckin corrode.. Body fasteners anyone? Pennies saved by reducing the corrosion protection and now they rust at the first taste of an English summer…
I would happily pay more for a truck built to a good standard.. Galv Chassis, fittings and proper paint preparation and finish.. but not going to happen from LR anytime soon…
Sultana? Slightly more agricultural, slightly bumpier.. IVECO engine is not so reliant on electrics… slightly worse driver comfort… could really be described as a series 4…..

Still love my 110, though.
