Land Rover oil problems

A friend of mine has a 3 year old Freelander, of course you would not expect the head gasket to go, but it has
read this link, a Taiwan guy may have come up with the solution to this major Freelander fault, Stuarts Garage here in Dublin, have a guy doing the head gasket replacements on freelander the whole time

http://www.pagetraining.com/freelander/technical.htm

I found another very good link about td5 endine complete failure again oil related, this can be read here
http://www.landyonline.co.za/issues/td5_oilpump.htm

I am happy with my Freelander only problem so far rear brake shoes went off and wouldn´t move, piece of cake but took some time getting the drum off.

Like it nearly as much as my Jón Baldur´s Trabant......

Looks pretty tame compared to some of the monsters you have in Iceland - seen some Land Rovers with 35 inch wheels............

Just to be fair, I know Codders thinks I build these web pages myself
try this link
its from the Landrover Club itself

http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HT...r_problems.htm
its all, here the famous knock of death, timing belts failing because its Tuesday, power steering permanent leaks, water leaks body corrosion quite horrific in all respects

but this shocked me the most

http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HT...o_problems.htm

Sorry Codders - your emphasis not mine.

I have a 2.8TD Fourtrak, the engine of which I believe is sought after by some LR owners to replace the factory-supplied unit. When I scourced my 4x4 I did look a a few LR's but the FT came along at the right price and spec. I wouldn't mind a Defender TDX though with all the bells & whistles.

The factory supplied unit being the V8 petrol which thanks to Tony Blair is just too expensive to run.....

I don't know of anyone who would swop a tdi engine for one - maybe the very OLD 2.5 diesel but not any more they dont!!!

The Fourtrack is not bad as Jap 4x4s go - far more of a workhorse than many but how anyone can knock land rovers for rusting after some of the old fourtracks I have seen I will never know.

Right you thick Irish tw** - this is the LAST time I will lower myself to answer your pathetic - childish remarks.

I do NOT think you make these pages up.

Yes Land Rovers DO have problems.

But so do ALL car makers - so WHY do you keep getting at Land Rover?

Isn't it about time you found something better to do?

Why don't you spend as much time finding out just how unsafe the Mercedes A class is - or how dangerous the Audi TT was when first launched - or how Mercs reliability has gone so bad????

END OF DISCUSSION!!!!

you aint ever gonna get em to shut up when you rise to the bait like that, its only a few words on a website for a minority group, next time take a few deep breaths and ignore, people will soon get fed up and move onto to some one else, ps when your RIB due, just a test, deep breaths, and stay

Codders,

How many other vehicles have at least 4 magazines running on them?
Are almost endless in the custom options
Able to engined with almost anything
Are usually called on to provide recovery for "certain other 4x4s one could mention"?
And dont make the driver look like a hair dresser?

Meanwhile; planning is well advanced on the spec for the ultimated tow tractor. My 110 CSW V8 will be re-chassied next year (dont see that happening to moncoques)

Spec to include 35" - 40" radials
Supsension lift 2"
body lift 2"
1500 watt 240v invertor
split charge system
high efficiency exhaust
4.6l low comp on LPG
timing amp for LPG - BTW its still 35.9p at my local garage read this and weep dieselheads
Overdrive (if unmodded motor will still turn the wheels!)

Seen the boat pics, looking lovely, now you'll need some totty draped over those teak decks - hmmmmm.

Ahh yes - the famous fourtrak air conditioning system. - not unsimilar to the old LR floorpan/bulkhead system (although I have to admit a bloody sight easier to repair on a LR )
