Land Rover types......

A smidgin of advice if you please....

An acquaintance over here in Canada is considering buying a Defender for personal import. Now to comply with the rather daft Canadian vehicle laws, it has to be over 15 years old. So '96 or older. He is not bothered about LHD, RHD will do.

Any knowledge or experience of the following dealers (or indeed vehicles)?

^High miles.....but looks mint.

^Looks to be an ex-council truck.

Defenders are few and far between in this part of the world. The strength of the CAD$ vs GBP makes import from UK more financially attractive. The idea of buying a 15 year old Defender would give me pause but this guy currently drives a 1962 S2 so knows what he is getting into!

TIA,
Alan

I'd speak to some of the bigger dealers over here as some have already exported older Defenders and Series vehicles over the Atlantic.
A couple that spring to mind would be Nene Overland, Liveridge 4x4.

You could look at ex-military land rovers held in reserve so they may be of the right age, they are however often LHD.

First one does look mint but it's been painted and re upholstered, the rear row's not standard, the rear benches are missing, the rear carpets have been out and it's done a lot of miles, so you can guess it didn't look anything like that when they got it. The 2nd one's just fantasy money. Unfortunately good Defenders of that sort of age are rare.
