The owner guy shows up, opens the doors, lets out a swimming pools worth of seawater and 20 fish, jumps in, fires it up and drives off. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes...

PS. I lied about the fish

Remember it all depends where it happens and what the currents are like.

I hired a Defender a few years ago and even though it was only 5 yrs old it was rusted to hell - on the inside!!! i couldn't even move the seat and the high/low/difflock lever had seized. There was more rust than on my 20yr old Defender. When I looked closely there was sand in the instruments.

It turned out it had been hired to our local council and the lifeguards had got it stuck in the mud. It was covered by 2 tides but Swansea bay itself is very sheltered so it didn't move.

It was no disgrace a Defender getting stuck there - a brand new tracked excavator got stuck there and so did the one that went to rescue it. £400,000 written off in one go!!!

Nah mine were just Dim or very Dim. It didn't go that fast so it wasn't a problem.

To be fair, any Brit Biker over 40 should remember 'Lucas, Prince of Darkness'

It's not true that Lucas, in 1947, tried to get Parliament to repeal Ohms Law. They withdrew their efforts when they met too much resistance.

Alexander Graham Bell (Canadian) invented the telephone, Thomas Edison (American) invented the light bulb, and Joseph Lucas invented the short circuit.

Bell was as Scottish as Haggis.

It was Joseph Swan who invented the electric lightbulb. He was about 20 years before Edison but he gave up on it for a while. He came back with a better patent about 1 year before Edison and was the 1st person in the whole world to have electric lights in his house!!!

A poor analogy Mr Prawn! Everyone else (canada and america) wants Bell to be "theirs" - nobody else claims haggis.

Bell became a US citizen (after inventing the phone) and apparently considered himself American rather than Scottish.

Well he didn't leave Scotland until he was in his 20s and had already started his work.
