New clutch

I've finally managed to knacker the clutch on my Audi A6 by pulling boats up the slipway at low-tide several times a day. Its so bad now I can barley drive down the road as it slips so much. So, time for a new clutch. I have a horrible feeling this is going to cost me a small fortune, so my question is....
-roughly how much is it likely to cost?
-can anyone recommend anyone in the Portsmouth/Solent area who is likely to be significantly cheaper than anyone else?
Any other advice (other than buy a Land rover) appreciated!

Damn you read my mind!!!

Costs vary so much - and an expensive job isn't always better than a cheap one. In Swansea you would prob get it for about £300 - main dealers prob about £700!!!

I can truthfully say I have NEVER had to change a clutch on a car - either it's cos they are all British or it's the way I drive. And NO they aren't all autos!!!

If it has a dual mass fly wheel there's a good chance that'll need doing too so it would be more like £1200 - £1400

Nasher
Mitsubishi are under some sort of illusion that they have a premium product.

Standard menu price for a Discovery Full service £385, Shogun 3.2 £565.

Good point - they are a nightmare - Skods/VW taxis always seem to suffer that at about 90,000 miles.

I think they stopped fitting them to some Transit vans cos of trouble as well.

Wow, I wish you had piped up when I posted this....

I spent £1000 chasing injector and pump problems before some bright spark told me the Flywheel was probably to blame.
