Yes

I hav driven one that was owned by a guy called Tim Fry in Cheltenham, He runs a large Landrover only garage (not a dealership) and is well know in the 4x4 world, does all the shows etc.

It had a switch under the dash that had two stages. Stage 1 made it perform considerably better than than standard. Stage 2 was more like driving a V8 (with fuel consumption to boot)

If you phone Tim and ask him he will recommend which ones are worth fitting and which ones arent.

Chris

Van Aaken are one of the most respected. They do the smartbox that can be removed if you need to.

Power raised from: 136 Bhp to 161 Bhp
100 KW to 118 KW

Torque raised from: 198 Lbft to 229 Lbft
268 Nm to 310 Nm

http://www.vanaaken.com/europe/index...ename=smartbox

They sometimes come up on Ebay or adtrader.

Yes try a Briggs and Stratton (lawnmower )Engine in its place....
Once a sewing machine, always a sewing machine..

Just get in hoc up to your eyes and change it for the new TDV8...
That will do it nicely,, they have a nice range now.

You want a bigger intercooler as well as a chip IMHO

Have a look at Allards or J J Fearn, seems to be two of the best respected names as far as Land Rovers go.

136hp I thought the range rover drivers I see were just slow , but with that much power in a vehicle that big they must be flat out . My old maverick is slow enough with similar power .

That engine was never really at it's best in a Range Rover - most of them are V8s. The new diesel is awesome though - 272bhp!!!

272bhp is handy but 472 lb/ft is a lot and far more use in a big heavy bugger like that...
