... your talking over 12k of a difference in starting price !! and that aint for no reason ! .. go drive one, and not just for a day in town .. and come back and tell us they are the same car

I beg to differ, been in both an s3 and 2.0t quattro sline. Once chipped for£500 there is only about 15bhp difference. Both are 4wd but the s3 is set up like a go cart with 3k worth of seats for a kick off. On uk roads arguably the s3 maybe slower. On a track it will win hands down. For daily driving and roads it is just too hardcore. 12k for extras that are no use on the road. Same principle as comparing a touring car to an a4 road version.

Hi Stuart,

Have had an S4 of 2000 vintage and now an RS4, also 2000.

The standard "sports" seats in the S4 I didn't find comfortable.

The electric Recaros in the RS4 are much better.

Try both.

If you get the big rs 4 seats you can't get in the back

so you may as well buy the r8......unless you have a dog.... Then you get the avant I suppose!

Point to note though I had a 2009 S3 2.0 TFSI Quattro 265 PS, it would have pulled pretty much any rib.....however it was not type approved to pull anything, the tow bar from any other A3 would have fitted, but it had no official rated tow capacity at all, therefore I dare say the insurance would be invalidated if you did.

I love the S seats in my 2011 s3. I'm six four and they are super supportive and really comfy on long drives. Horses for courses I guess, I could drive the car all day and my five four wife feels the same.
