The reason sales are up is because China is buying LandRovers because they're British......Not because they're any good.
Does anybody wear a Barbour or Belstaff wax cotton when on the water?

Most of the people who are against the Landy badge, Appear not to own one, and by some comments have not owned one for some time, so do not really appreciate that they are basically a reasonable good vehicle, and the problems in the past have gone a long way to being solved.
How many of them would buy a Skoda I wonder (Or Volkswagon?)
The added advantage of the defender (indeed many models) is that they are relatively easy to work on, and not too complex, and many people with a few tools and common sense can do most of the servicing work themselves. plus there are many forums for people to ask help and advice on routine servicing/maintenence.
At least i am supporting a British made vehicle. The parent company may not be British, but the factory, workers and jobs are, and I am proud to support them, just as I am proud to drive a British made rib.

Your insight on LR is phenomenal. As in, off the scale.
Following this through then, have you advised LR as to when the bubble is going to burst? Only, they're investing billions in new models, building a new assembly plant over there and employing another 800 staff at Solihull as we speak. It'd be such a waste if it all went tits up overnight as you predict.
Barbour's and Belstaff's? Much too clever for me, son. Having got a f***ing clue what you're talking about.
PS: I'm offering you two pints now. One for your help with my serious condition of where-am-I-going-wrong-as-a-happy-LR-customer and another whilst you share your broader LR insight with me so I can earn a big fat consultancy fee from them. Hope to hear from soon

True and yes i admit to being guilty of this.... Although i have owned many LR's, the last one we bought was a 2004 D2 back in 2006.
I trust Parkers review of any vehicle i consider purchasing and they sem quite complimentary of the D3/4.....

Time for me to drop my prejudices perhaps?....

Not getting into this reliability argument again buy what you want they all brake down sometimes but I have been up in the Peak District this weekend with Disco3 .co.uk must av been a mix of 12 D3 & D 4 plus an odd couple of Defeners and no one broke down the only lane we didn't manage was up steep quarry slope that was like sheet ice. But we did see some muppets out in BM and a merc ml came through a hedge in front of us.

800 new jobs in UK......while new factory is being built in China to fulfil Chinese orders. When factory is finished I reckon they'll use Chinese workers........and the Indian ( Asian ) owned Land Rover will hop skip and jump to new facilities in China.
Or they'll stay loyal to their UK workforce just like every other world brand and reintroduce production to Coventry?

Triumph have moved production to China.
Jag are making over 70% of their stuff in China, Bentley are surviving because of a new chinese market, Aston are in the shit because they have done nothing in China.
Look at the boat market.........in the US, 90% of US sales are from US manufacturers, 80% of those are in Florida.
That looks like a market on the edge of implosion.
They can not shift product.
LandRover need to wake up to competition and not rely on the Brit wave. It will dump them in the sh*t, Posh Spice or not.
They need a watertight product that is not falling back upon warranty claims.
The reason Honda had no warranty claims on their S2000 V-Tech is that they replaced engines during routine service without notifying the owner until after the service.
It became a service item and didn't damage their 100% reliability record.
