Well, the boats are at Pearl Harbor, which is on the island of Oahu, so You probably could.

Probably a downgrade for you to go from single four stroke 250 to twin two stroke 150s though.

Tworotor, I think you need a new hobby. Something small.

How about collecting salt shakers? Easier to store than boats.

really?

I think one sold here recently with twin Honda 150s went for around 20, but those are 4 strokes.

It's psychological - people think two-strokes are bad.

Season, engine manufacturer, location, condition, color, etc.... It's all a crap shoot on what they'll go for. I don't really know the outboard market but I've seen $10-32k at auction for an outboard hurricane (with something bolted on the transom) .

Zip, I told you a friend got his H733 home for $20k (shipping, fees, taxes, etc) in good shape with twin Hondas and by the time he was done fixing it up, he was in for over $50k. That was starting with running Honda 150's with and decent tubes. People always underestimate when they are budgeting on a refurbishment - I know that I did.

I will guess over 18k. I hear that Matson here in Oakland will be reasonable to use for shipping, gonna give them a call and get some quotes.

Gsa reminds me of a tent sale at Harbor Freight; a bunch of knockers fighting over junk thinking they're crushing the deal. I'm convinced Todd is the only guy making money on GSA ribs; you've got to be able to do all the work yourself or you'll get hosed.

Google, searchtempest, and craigslist it all you need. My last two carcasses set me back $2,500 for one and $4,000 with a trailer and 90 Honda on the other, (basically free).

enjoy!

Agreed, ou HAVE to be able to do all of work yourself, otherwise, it doesn't make sense. I've put together some very detailed budgets and it's not pretty when starting with a hull only. Best to find one done (or partially complete) that someone else bought as a project and spent a bunch of money on before they realized they were over their head.

I use the example of a T-top - find a used boat with it included and it's barely priced higher than one without. Buy they one without to "save money" and they you go to get a custom top done and you then realize they are $3,000!

How do you make a small fortune building boats (airplanes, cars, etc.)......?

Start with a large fortune.

I was quoted $6,700 for Matson to ship it to Oakland. On top of that, the hassle of finding someone, or going out there yourself, to bring the boat from the base to the port.
